Now that none dispute the tragic and historic enormity of this past year, some 20/20 hindsight on the year 2020 is in order. 

Though no human pundit — secular or religious — saw anything like this year coming, Heaven has for years been urgently warning us of the imminent demise of the present sad Era through chastisements: both a purification largely human or natural in origin (plagues, wars, financial/economic/social collapse, disasters, etc.), as well as an array of events that no one will be able to doubt the supernatural (or preternatural) origins of: The Warning, the reign of the Antichrist, the 3 Days of Darkness, celestial phenomena, etc., to be followed by the Coming of the Kingdom of God on earth. This prophetic urgency of Heaven’s messages increased significantly throughout the 2010s.

As I wrote in August, 2018, “Now the prophetic consensus seems to hold that the world will — in the coming years — completely fall apart. A sort of “natural” chastisement; a consequence of our sins….When this natural chastisement is at its worst (which will probably take another few years), God sends the Warning.”

This increase reached a fever pitch in 2019 (which I noted in my post on February 6 of this year, over a month before Coronavirus was even declared a pandemic, writing “as the long-prophesied events grow ever closer and the prophetic expectation reaches a veritable fever pitch…”, shortly after which we saw the historically unprecedented near universal suspension of the public Sacrifice of the Mass, as the prophecies also warned of), and has not backed down one iota from the summit it then reached, with due regard to the fact that we have still only seen one small portion of what has been prophesied; much, much more is coming, as I emphasized in March. (Please forgive the degree of self-reference in this post; I am simply trying to do some year-end tying together of loose ends!) 

Largely, 2020’s epoch-altering nature was of course due to the world’s response to the CoronaVirus (that is, “Crown” — in Latin, Corona — Virus) epidemic. (We now know the virus actually started the same month The Crown of History was published; more on that below). 

What have we seen this year, in a nutshell?

Personal and religious rights once taken for granted now abolished in a fear-driven capitulation to the contrived narrative. Natural disasters once rare or unheard of now common. Economic collapse once scarcely contemplated now apparently inescapable. Social, familial, and religious disintegration once described only in dystopian novels now the expected and even state-sanctioned norm. Stability and order once taken for granted now subservient to the whims of violent mobs hell bent on instituting Marxist principles. Vitriol and depravity once deemed unfit for a locker room now dominating the mainstream. Corruption once posited only by the boldest conspiracy theories now exposed plainly as utterly pervasive among the world’s rich and powerful. International conflict once dismissed as unlikely or even impossible now seemingly moments away.

What was, in 2019, regarded as impregnable has now been revealed precarious. Supposedly impending worldly triumphs and victories we then thought we could almost taste are now scarcely memories; memories which, though only one year old, now feel like reminiscing over a childhood long past.

And still, so many of the Faithful who should be burning and shining lights (cf. John 5:35) in this darkness are doing nothing other than regurgitating the secular dross that hopes for nothing more than an imminent “return to normalcy.”

But do you, dear Christian — dear soul who at least nominally recognizes that God is the Master of History and is always operative within it — really think that God has in mind a mere return? Perish the thought. He has a Great Return in mind, indeed — but a return to something much further back (by several thousand years, in fact) than 2019. Before turning to that, let us consider a few headlines that illustrate what even the worldly recognize regarding this past year:  

Indeed, too few Christians have realized, through this all, that the Holy Spirit remains the Architect of History; that He is absolutely in control, and that, consequently, when such Era-altering phenomena as this are allowed by Him to transpire, it is precisely because God is on the move, and He is making haste. Too many Christians have remained attached to all of the vanities of the old Era that is now fading away before our eyes like a dream. Therefore, instead of responding to Apocalyptic events by heeding Our Lord’s command to “raise your heads, for your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28), they have only done the opposite by succumbing to despondency.  In a word, they have forgotten the lesson of Lot’s wife. (Cf. Luke 17:32). Here are two headlines I happened to observe back-to-back, and which exemplify what the world is now facing:

In one sense, I sympathize. For, in a fanatical desire to not be seen as a fanatic, the very ones who should have been proclaiming the imminent demise of the present sad Era (through Chastisements that we must prepare for by repenting and becoming saints), followed by the coming of the Glorious Era of Peace, have been utterly silent on this point; preferring instead to give a more “safe” message and pretend that all things will be business as usual for decades or even centuries to come, while they place all their hopes for renewal in this or that worldly initiative: duly adorned with a few pious words, but doomed to fail even before the ink is dry on its professionally produced business plan. Therefore, the faithful have been utterly starved of the very message that, above all, Jesus wishes to announce to His children. The very message of the coming Dawn from On High that should be “going viral” in these days of increasing pre twilight morning darkness. The only message that will enable us to comprehend the times that are upon us. 

Yes, in the years leading up to the present paradigm-shift, Heaven had been (and still is) shouting like never before to the world through the living prophets, warning us all through them that the present sad Era would soon be gone; demolished through Biblical Chastisements and replaced by a glorious Era of Peace wherein the Will of God shall be accomplished on earth as in Heaven.

I published The Crown of History in September, 2019 to try and inform as many people as possible of God’s plan for our Era so that they could participate in and hasten the coming Glorious Era’s arrival. I open the first Chapter of that book with the following message Jesus gave to the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta:

The whole world is upside down, and everyone is awaiting changes, peace, new things. … peoples are impoverished, are stripped alive, and while they are waiting, tired of the sad present era, dark and bloody, which enwraps them, they wait and hope for a new era of peace and of light. The world is exactly at the same point as when I was about to come upon earth. All were awaiting a great event, a new era, as indeed occurred. The same now; since the great event, the new era in which the Will of God may be done on earth as It is in Heaven, is coming—everyone is awaiting this new era, tired of the present one, but without knowing what this new thing, this change is about, just as they did not know it when I came upon earth. This expectation is a sure sign that the hour is near. (July 14, 1923)

Little did anyone then know that the very month (perhaps even the very day) I published those words in The Crown of History, the “Crown Virus” had just begun making its way through the world in order to initiate the chain of events that, ultimately, will lead to the Coming Era. Little did I know that a short few months thereafter, the misery described above, in this first Chapter’s opening quote, would be the very defining quote of the Year of Our Lord 2020.

Indeed, we now know that Coronavirus actually began in September 2019. (I do not think this detracts from the prophetic significance of what I noted back in February, since it was in fact December 2019 that Coronavirus became publicly known. But, clearly, we should no longer consider December to mark the actual beginning of the epidemic.)

And if indeed History’s Crown is now beginning to be bestowed upon the Church and the world, it would be wrong for us to expect the initial crowning itself to be anything but a crowning with thorns. 

First the thorns, then the gold. The Coronavirus (“Crown Virus”) — primarily the world’s response to it — contains the first pricks of the Crown of Thorns, but, sadly, far more thorns will follow. Rest assured, however, that the Crown of Gold (The Crown of History) will come afterwards, making all the suffering of the thorns seem little in comparison.

This image of Christ the King is one of my favorites. It also illustrates the chronology of how the Crown of History transpires: first, the suffering, then, the glory. 

I do also wish to address the possibility of doubt in some people’s minds about the imminence of the thorns; doubts that perhaps have arisen due to Fall 2020 not seeing some of the particular extraordinary events that a few were anticipating. For example, Fr. Michel famously prophesied (in March 2020), “The great events of purification will begin this fall.” Personally I am not sure whether or not this prophecy was fulfilled; only looking back, some time from now, will we know. (Mark Mallett and I discussed some possible ways this could have been fulfilled here.) But the very worst reaction one could have would be to say to himself, “Well, that was a failed prophecy; so I guess I can leave prophecy aside and just forget about Heaven’s Messages for now, and instead join the world in their excited hopes for an imminent return to normalcy!” 

First of all, Fr. Michel is just one seer of many; though I’ve defended him (I’ll gladly defend anyone — seer or not — against unfair criticism), I’m still discerning his messages, and his prophecies still might or might not wind up being authentic; time will tell, and I have no strong convictions to share with you on this particular question. But it matters little; countless other seers (and there is simply no possible way that all of them are inauthentic) have been given Heavenly messages indicating that the present sad Era, dark and bloody, will soon end through Chastisements, which will themselves ultimately bring about the glorious Era of Peace. Still, I know that a few people will have that nagging thought in the back of their heads: “But I figured that a nuke would hit a big city this Fall, or something like that… since it didn’t, I think I’d rather just leave aside prophecy.” 

Let me ask you: What prophecy-giving private revelation do you definitely count as fully authentic? 

Pause a moment and ponder that.

The vast majority of you probably thought “Fatima.” And, indeed, a Catholic would have to be crazy to doubt the authenticity of the revelations of Our Lady of Fatima and, likewise, the authenticity of the prophecies there given. What many people ignore about the prophecies of Our Lady of Fatima, however, is that if one insists upon an overly strict and rigid interpretation of the Second Secret’s prophecy, it seems like a failed prophecy. Obviously, however, it was not actually a failed prophecy; and woe to one who would have, in February 1939, cast prophecy aside on account of this supposed “failure.” Allow me to explain:

Within the Second Secret of Fatima, Our Lady says the following:

 “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI.”

Now, everyone knows that World War II did not start until September 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. But Pius XI died (thus, his Pontificated ended) seven months earlier: on February 10, 1939. This doesn’t mean that the Fatima prophecy failed. It just means that the beginning of the fulfillment of prophecies is usually not explicit. Tensions of course were soaring in Europe during the pontificate of Pius XI, in between 1922 and 1939 (not unlike they are soaring now), subtly laying the groundwork for WW2. But up until Hitler actually invaded Poland, inviting a formal declaration of war immediately thereafter, people were still hoping that another World War could be avoided. 

One cannot reasonably argue that WW2 actually explicitly started in 1938 when Germany annexed Austria. Germany’s annexation of Austria was seen by many people, even in Austria at the time, as a unification. It was applauded by many. There was no battle, and there were no casualties. You’d be laughed at if, upon that event transpiring, you publicly proclaimed that WW2 began. So it would really be ridiculous to say that WW2 actually began then and that consequently the prophecy of the Second Secret of Fatima was clearly and explicitly fulfilled. It wasn’t. It is a fact that World War II did not explicitly break out until the pontificate of Pius XII. But the events that subtly began WW2 indeed occurred during the pontificate of Pius XI, as Our Lady of Fatima said in the Second Secret. And I hate to say it. I hope this is wrong. …. But what we’ve seen this Fall may well have been analogous to what Europe was seeing in 1938 and the early months of 1939. 

Unfortunately, the signs we have seen this past year forebode something much worse than even World War II. I think it is quite likely that we saw the implicit beginnings of the Great Events of The Purification — none other than the Biblical Chastisements spoken of in the Book of Revelation — transpire this past year; including in the Fall, with:

• Every single thing I noted back in May, in the Devil’s Dress Rehearsal and the Infrastructure of the Antichrist post, has only become more clear and severe, so I won’t re-state all of that here. Since I wrote that post, several authoritative voices (e.g. the renowned exorcist Fr. Pat Collins, and Archbishop Vigano; though kindly recall that I do not agree with all of Vigano’s claims) have said the exact same thing; warning that what we are seeing in 2020 in the Church and the world is indeed a “rehearsal for the Antichrist.”
•  All over the world, “Immunity Passports” and other similar legislation is beginning to be crafted, and even in some places formally introduced, to bar people from society who do not get vaccinated, even if doing so would be against their conscience. (I am not an anti-vaxxer, and, no, the current vaccines are not the Mark of the Beast. But vaccine mandates are nothing short of totalitarianism, and they serve, I think, as the ultimate precursor to the Mark of the Beast. The system now being put in place for vaccine mandates/immunity passports is exactly what the Beast will need to institute his diabolical Mark. Bear in mind that the very Vatican document many are now citing to justify taking the abortion-tainted vaccines also says — cf. §5 — that vaccines must be voluntary.) 
• Unless something extraordinary happens in the next few weeks, the next “leader of the free world,” the American President, will likely be a pro-abortion “Catholic,” to then be soon followed (I anticipate that the puppeteer’s plan for the puppets is to have Biden resign so that Harris can be president) by an explicitly anti-Catholic bigot who will doubtless do everything she can to persecute the Faithful. 
• The twisted Communist ideology of the “Great Reset” is becoming more and more diabolical and explicit; less and less a theory or proposition, more and more an endeavor already in the works throughout the whole world.
• Pope Francis has not retracted the gravely erroneous personal opinion of his that came to light in October; and the Vatican’s only statement on the matter said nothing of value. Christ’s promise in Matthew 16:18 remains in force and, of course, always will; but error has now reached the very heights that Divine Providence could possibly allow it to reach, and whoever entered these days with a Faith not already absolutely firm either has already succumbed to error, or is likely about to. 
• Events have transpired (e.g. the cyber attack showing America’s enemies the whereabouts of our nuclear arsenal, the Iranian assassination, Middle East tensions, Russia/China machinations) that seem to be harbingers of WW3.
• Several new strains of Coronavirus have suddenly emerged this Fall, worse than any of the many previous mutations which were barely newsworthy, which might make 2020’s Coronavirus epidemic look small in comparison.
• And, most gravely of all, many places around the world are again suspending the public Sacrifice of the Mass as well as all the Sacraments due to the so-called  “second wave” of Coronavirus. As a Church, we have failed to learn the lessons of the Spring lockdowns (i.e., that we must resist), and so many in the hierarchy and in the pews have bought the diabolical lie that the Sacraments are “non essential,” when in fact they are the most essential things on the face of the planet. Thus, the spiritual black hole created by the absence of the Holy Sacrifice (and confession, etc.) grows larger and nears the point of unleashing chaos upon the world.

So there we have it. Keep oil in your lamps (cf. Matthew 25:1-13) now more than ever, and do not grow weary during the times now upon us. As always, I say none of this to cause fear: one who is striving to Live in the Divine Will has absolutely nothing to be afraid of in what is coming upon the world. But it is imperative that such souls, certain of the eventual victory, now get to work more zealously than ever Proclaiming the Kingdom, as this Kingdom is now so near that one can almost taste it. Just how near, however — and, correspondingly, how long the pre-Era chastisements will drag on — depends upon whether and how boldly we proclaim the Kingdom.

LONG LIVE CHRIST THE KING!

Yesterday was an extraordinary day. 

“From now on the Holy Spirit will blow ever more strongly upon my Church and on his children. Remember – have love for the Lord. Dearly beloved children, you are my little remnant… I will soon anticipate the return of my Son…” – Message of Our Lady to Gisella Cardia. December 8th, 2020

First and foremost, of course, yesterday was extraordinary because it was the Liturgical celebration of the 2,035th anniversary (Our Lady herself being conceived 15 years before the Annunciation) of the Divine Will once again having a full dwelling on earth for the first time in 4,000 years since Adam and Eve sinned. That is, it was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Of that Feast, Jesus tells the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, “Today is the greatest feast, because the Divine Will had life in the Queen of Heaven; it was the feast of all feasts, it was the first kiss, the first divine embrace that the creature gave to her Creator by virtue of Our Fiat, which the Sovereign little girl possessed.” – December 8, 1928. Yes, Our Lady was the Queen of Heaven and Earth from the very moment of her conception in the womb of St. Anne. That very conception itself far outweighed in merit all the acts of all the saints before and after Our Lady … combined. “The Sovereign Queen, even from Her Immaculate Conception, was the First and Only Creature who formed the Link of Connection between the Creator and the creature, broken by Adam.” – December 8, 1931

Yesterday was extraordinary as well due to a surprise Apostolic Letter from Pope Francis declaring this year — starting yesterday — the Year of St. Joseph (more on that shortly).

But yesterday was also extraordinary because of something that no news outlet covered and no Liturgical calendar took note of. As Gisella Cardia’s message above stated, “From now on the Holy Spirit will blow ever more strongly…”  Over the course of the day’s events, I have grown convinced that this is true.

For my part, I concluded the hours of yesterday’s great feast in adoration, participating in a local chapter of the 31st annual National Night of Prayer for Life… at, of all places, St. Joseph’s Church.  Shortly after midnight, we prayed the original, full version of the St. Michael the Archangel prayer before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, and as the priest lifted high the Monstrance during the closing Benediction thereafter, I felt a great outpouring of Eucharistic grace. I had thought that this was just a gesture from Our Lord that I myself was experiencing; but I am now feeling that it was in fact an outpouring of grace upon the whole world, in which I was just one small participant.

I am often contacted by seers with messages, so I am not easily caught off guard or surprised in the realm of prophecy. But today, something very rare happened — not once, but twice. I was contacted by two people in different parts of the world who, for the first time in their lives, had just received messages from Heaven of their own. Indeed, it seems the Holy Spirit is up to something.

I also think that yesterday being the beginning of the Year of St. Joseph is not only spiritually significant, but also prophetically significant. Recent messages to the living seers have been emphasizing the importance of St. Joseph and the Holy Family for the times when the long-prophesied events burst forth upon the world.

Consider as well that an emphasis on the Holy Family is, in a sense, really a particular emphasis on St. Joseph. Why? Because all those who emphasize the importance of the Holy Family are already well aware of the importance of Jesus and Mary; whereas referring to the Holy Family is simply adding Joseph himself into the picture. And, indeed, it is imperative that we do precisely that. The apparitions at Fatima — which ushered in the modern age of Heaven’s intervention in the world — especially emphasized the importance of the Holy Family and St. Joseph. 

In Jesus’ revelations to the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta — revelations all about the Reign of the Divine Will (first, in our own souls, then, over the whole world after Chastisements) — we are told that St. Joseph is the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Divine Will (cf. July 4, 1928 diary entry). Now, of course, Jesus Himself is the King of this Kingdom, and Our Lady is the Queen of the Kingdom. What, then, is the role of the Prime Minister? Well, I would wager that it is to get to work and make things happen on a very practical level; not being afraid to get his hands dirty in the hard work that must be undertaken to receive its prize.

Jesus also tells Luisa that only St. Joseph knew what He (Jesus) and Mary were doing in the house of Nazareth as they interiorly formed the Kingdom of Redemption (cf. April 30, 1927 diary entry). (News flash: the first 30 years of Jesus’ earthly life were not decades of waiting around for His public ministry! He was, rather, always at work — from the moment of His Incarnation — forming the Kingdom of Redemption and the Kingdom of the Divine Will). Not St. Peter or St. Paul, not the beloved apostle John, not John the  Baptist… only Joseph.

So of all the saints, only Joseph knew the great secrets of Jesus and Mary. And of all the saints, only Joseph is the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Divine Will. 

I believe that during this Year of St. Joseph, which began yesterday, we are going to witness incredible marvels. St. Joseph is going to show us just what he can do, as he gets to work more zealously than ever in his role as Prime Minister, paving the way for the reign of the King and Queen of the Divine Will thereafter. 

Pope Francis’ Apostolic Letter, in detailing Joseph’s virtues, even in some respects seems like a guide to begin Living in the Divine Will. I include below just a few excerpts. Let us take them to heart.

Let us, indeed, imitate the virtues and the zeal of St. Joseph. Let us strive always with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength to live in the Divine Will so as to hasten its reign over the whole earth!

Please consecrate yourself to St. Joseph every day. Feel free to do so however you like, but here is the prayer that I and my family have long prayed every day (and I think that our first son, Joseph, finally has it memorized!):

St. Joseph, Terror of Demons, Patron of the Universal Church, and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Divine Will,

PRAY FOR US!

Addendums:

In my last post, I alluded to what my “next post” would be. Apologies; this post today is not that — but it will come soon!

Please pray and sacrifice for a mitigation of the looming Chastisements. In particular, pray for those who will affected by earthquakes; this has become an extremely urgent theme in recent messages. Pray that, as much as possible, death and serious injury will be spared. And pray that all those who will die will at least repent in their last moments.

Finally, I was sent the following prayer by an individual who feels he just received it from the Lord. I would like to share it with you now:

Update 12/16/2020: the person who received this prayer sent me some additional context and explanations, which I am including below:

This event [receiving the prayer from Our Lord] happened right after some friends talked to me about vaccines coming up and what to do. I could sense helplessness at what is very likely to come in many places, unless God chooses to intervene in some way.
… it was given to someone during meditation on the Lord’s passion and that person was asked to write down this prayer and have also received a physical sign confirming the experience. The same day in the evening, while meditating on this prayer, Jesus spoke again, this time giving the words of encouragement.

To add to this, which might be already clear to you, I felt the reason three persons are invoked at the end of the prayer for intercession is this:
St. Michael the Archangel is invoked as the one who fought off the ancient serpent,
St. Joseph, apart from this being “time of St. Joseph”, is invoked with his title “most just” because of the outrage against justice that forced “medications”, about to be imposed upon the world, are. Finally Mary is invoked with her title “Ever Virgin”
because her body was kept inviolate, both in perpetual virginity as well as kept from the corruption of death, so through her intercession we will be imploring Jesus to keep our “sprits, souls and bodies” inviolate, even when faced with the threats that simply won’t leave us any choice, short of losing our jobs, going to prison and leaving our families stranded.

One technical detail is that for families, I think the prayer specifically mentions “or in my family”, so that the fathers asking Jesus in the words of this prayer will obtain His protection for the entire family, including small children who might be forced as well, or even for those members of the family, who have somehow became persuaded that there is no danger in the vaccines.

I have a friendly, but strong, admonition for those who are now promoting certain radical theories regarding the forthcoming Covid vaccines. (Before presenting them, I will remind you that I am not advocating for getting the vaccine; it may well be dangerous, it may well be unethical. It may well be part of a terribly dark and nefarious international agenda. I do not yet know; if I am able to come to clearer conclusions on this I will let you know with a new post.). This is frankly not something I want to write about, but considering my position, I think I must. For, with respect to what I’ve been writing for the last 10+ years, I am one person whom no one could fairly castigate as being insufficiently sensitive to the Signs of the Times, the apocalyptic nature of our present age, and the warnings from Heaven in trustworthy private revelation.

And yet I must say bluntly: You who promote these more radical theories are risking playing the role of the boy who cried wolf. For once your voice is actually needed in order to speak out, no one will believe you, for they will say “Ah, yes, that’s the same person who made all those utterly comical assertions about the Covid vaccine!”

The more radical claims now circulating online regarding the vaccine (e.g. that it will drastically alter our DNA thus making us transhuman monsters, override our free wills and our minds, make us ineligible for God’s grace, damn us to hell, make us controllable via 5G, etc.) are so apocalyptic that they certainly constitute assertions that the vaccine is the Mark of the Beast itself. Have those Christians promoting these theories paused for even a moment to consider one simple fact? Namely, the fact that the Mark of the Beast cannot be given until the Beast himself has made his public entrance. The Beast (the Antichrist), however, has not yet made his public entrance. Dark indeed as these days have grown, we are still in the Infrastructure-Laying period of preparation for the Antichrist, not in the times of his explicit activities. 

Read the Book of Revelation Chapter 13. You will see clearly that all manner of things must happen before the Mark of the Beast is given — things we clearly have not seen yet. First, the Beast assumes worldwide dominion, and the peoples of the earth revere him. The Beast also works great apparent signs and wonders that the world marvels at; even making “fire come down from Heaven.” Then, and only then, (verses 16-18), the Mark of the Beast is instituted. 

Furthermore, we know from the prophetic consensus that the Antichrist does not publicly enter the scene and institute the Mark until after the Warning, which obviously has not happened yet. 

Speaking of private revelation: if Heaven’s messages these days are useful for anything at all, and indeed they are!, then they certainly will warn us — without any ambiguity, with a clear prophetic consensus, and with a superlative degree of urgency — against the Mark of the Beast when it comes. And yet, we do not have anything close to that in the messages we now see. We see warnings of what the nefarious elite want to do, for sure. We have warnings to be careful about vaccines, indeed. But we haven’t anything even remotely close to a prophetic consensus indicating that the Covid vaccine is the Mark of the Beast, or that any of the wild theories out there about it are true. 

So from both Scripture and private revelation, it is clear that the present Covid vaccines are not the Mark of the Beast. This fact also tells us that any individual claims about the vaccine that are so apocalyptic as to render it tantamount to the Mark, must themselves be claims that are to not be believed. 

But let us now also consider the claims themselves. I am certainly open to theories about the vaccine arguing it is unsafe, harmful to one’s health, unethical in its development, or a means of authoritarian control. I am even open to theories that argue the vaccine is part of a dark global agenda with nefarious ends. (Though I’m not myself currently making any such claims) What I am not open to — and what you, dear reader, must not be open to — are claims about the vaccine that (even if bedecked in terms from Christian theology) contradict an orthodox Catholic philosophical anthropology (understanding of human nature) and an orthodox Catholic worldview in general. This is precisely what the more wild Covid vaccine claims do: in supposedly seeking to protect our Faith, they contradict our Faith.

I will have to get specific and name some names here, contrary to my usual practice. 

My inbox has been inundated, since July of this year, with the videos of a certain Dr. Carrie Madej. First of all, we must understand that Dr. Madej is not a scientist. MDs are quite knowledgeable and usually very trustworthy, but they are not scientists and we mustn’t erroneously regard them as such; they are trained pragmatically to treat their patients, not to master the scientific theory at play nor to contribute scholarly scientific research. But I think it’s worth noting that Madej is not even an MD. She is an “O.D.” (a doctor of osteopathy). ODs do not focus on solidly research-based approaches as much as MDs do. I am not condemning osteopathic medicine (I do not know much about it), but we must admit that at least some of the practices that have been associated with it are related to themes that Catholic Teaching regards as new age and/or pseudoscientific . This doesn’t mean we should reject ODs; I just think it means we should be a bit more cautious with them than with MDs, when it comes to the question of whether something may be pseudoscientific, is all. Anyway, take all that as you will; they are not essential points I wish to make here, though I think they should be kept in mind as we consider Madej’s claims. I’m sure ODs are generally wonderful and trustworthy; perhaps even Madej herself is, outside of this particular issue.

In her videos, Madej claims that this vaccine will turn us into Transhuman monsters by changing our DNA, and that this will also allow our minds to be controlled, our beliefs to be overridden, and on the list goes. These claims are absurd. Others have made similar claims (though very few if any serious, actual scientists who specialize in these fields have). A certain Croatian named Neven Peša has expounded upon such themes, employing terms from Catholic theology. 

I will not address the medical dimension of these claims — that is not my specialty. If you’re interested in that, please see, for example, this article. It was written by one who actually is a PhD scientist who has contributed authoritative scholarly research — and not only that, he is an orthodox Catholic priest who has defended Catholic orthodoxy on controversial issues. 

But the philosophy and theology (which is my speciality) of such claims, is utterly bankrupt, and possibly even heretical. 

First of all, your spiritual soul is untouchable. Your mind — your intellect, memory, and will — are not material things. They are spiritual powers of your spiritual soul. Sure, they have neurochemical phenomena that follow them and correspond to them, but the causal chain cannot be reversed. Considering your intellect itself, your memory itself, your will itself — while they can each have their abilities inhibited by material phenomena, they cannot be controlled by any theoretically possible material phenomena. No vaccine, no injection, no nano-robot, no nano-particle. Nothing. See my post from September for a more complete demonstration of this point.

Secondly, you are not your DNA. You are your soul (which, though unified with the body, also subsists and operates distinctly from the body). Identical twins have identical DNA but are entirely different people. People born with even the worst genetic deformities are still people just as much as you are. Your DNA is degenerating — changing — as you age, yet you do not become a different person. Anyone who has ever had cancer has suffered from a condition that affects their DNA; yet they remain exactly the same person, no matter how advanced or pervasive the cancer.

It would of course be tragic if your DNA were modified — we should oppose human genetic modification because we must not erroneously suppose that our ideas for human design are better than God’s ideas! But we should still remember that no matter what is done to your DNA, you will still be you. You will still be a human. God’s grace will still be available to you. So long as you exist within time and have not yet had your Particular Judgment, God’s grace will always be available to you. Always. No matter what. Period. I solemnly assure you of that. Don’t you dare ever doubt that. If you doubt that, then you will succumb to despair. And then, in superlative irony, your despair-driven damnation will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. What an utterly terrible thought. Perhaps Judas was only damned because the devil beguiled him into thinking that what he had done was permanent and unforgivable, changing his very nature into evil itself — rendering him no longer really human — a lie from the pit of hell. 

Contradicting these facts, Neven wrote, “RNA altering dehumanizes us genetically,” and he built most of his argument off of this erroneous premise. But the fact is that you are a human, and you cannot be “dehumanized.” Or rather, the only thing that can “dehumanize” you is good old fashioned death — the separation of your soul from your body. If something is done to you that “dehumanizes” you, then all that means is that your soul has departed your body and has been judged by Jesus Christ and gone on to either Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. Somebody or something left on earth may, then, be messing with your corpse. That’s surely unfortunate… but, at the end of the day, we must respond: “so what?” Your mortal remains left on earth after your death are not you and what is done to them cannot affect you.

Neven goes on to write: “This is really about ontology and sacramental theology. If Grace builds on nature or perfects nature, then if the nature is not there or has been altered, then Grace cannot attach itself to it. Matter matters. The same reason you cannot confect Eucharist using banana bread is the reason why Grace cannot attach itself to a GMO entity.”

It just so happens that the analogy he here chose perfectly refutes the point he himself is trying to make. Leaving aside for now the question of the merits or demerits of GMO foods, one fact remains: if a Eucharistic host is made from bread that itself was made from a GMO strain of wheat, that host will still be validly consecrated. The fact that “grace builds upon nature,” as indeed it does, does not mean that grace “cannot attach itself” to something that has had its DNA modified. That conclusion in no way follows from its premise. In this case, we know that wheat remains wheat, and thus remains valid matter for consecration, even if its DNA is toyed with. This is Church Teaching.

This entire idea that “a thing’s essence is its DNA” is actually a fundamental tenet of the heresy of Scientism and it is precisely the premise that the atheists use to strive to argue against the immateriality of the human soul. As a philosopher, I have to deal with atheistic assertions like this all the time. But how sad it is to see the Faithful succumb to these very premises used to attack the Faith! 

I do not wish to malign the motives of Dr. Madej, Neven Pesa, or those who have made similar arguments (or promoted these arguments); they seem to be sincere Christians. But they are promoting dangerous errors here. Please keep your head screwed on straight in these times of unprecedented confusion. The Diabolical “quantum leap” that the Antichrist and his minions will seek to foist upon us will require not just Faith, but also reason, to avoid. We must take both seriously.
